Reading Log 6!

Title: Dungeon Defense.
Text: Light Novel.
Date finished: Mon, 25th of September.

Dungeon Defense is a light novel about a young man that gets his entire world changed when he suddenly wakes up in a new world filled with demons and magic!

In dungeon defense our protagonist is a very cunning and sharp individual, he uses everything in his power in order too win each battle he's tasked with. What I love about this character is just his out look on life, and his viewpoints on Everything happening around him. He's completely what you would deem a evil and manipulative character, that being one of his strongest points! I loved reading this mostly because of the protagonist, he can seem completely useless at times, however, he always has a plan in order to save himself. It's great. I recon that this book relates to our society based purley in the fact that if you want to be considered a decent human being, don't act like he does. A prime example of his evil nature in my own opinion is when he says and I quote. "Friendship is only a term used for someone who hasn't stanbed you in the back." I mean come on! He's so evil, he doesn't even need friends.

Another interesting point that I loved about this book is how it involved politics and merchants. This light novel fully explained in depth a lot of things in involving this. They writer did such an excellent job that even I could understand most things happening throughout the entire light novel. Now, how I relate this to our current society? Easy, the novel gave me a much deeper understanding of trading. Although this was a fantasy novel, I still personally think that the things I learnt in this novel based on Trading and all that could be used in a real life situation. An example without spoiling to much on how the novels trading and all that works would definitely be when the protagonist used everything in his power in order to completely destroy the entire economy.

Title: Young Samurai: The way of the warrior.
Time finished:  Mon, 25th of September.
Text type: Novel.

Young Samurai: The way of the warrior is a novel written by Chris Bradford. Through out this book we follow a young boy named Jack Fletcher on his journey to a new land!

In this book something I personally found amusing was how the protagonist had to learn a whole new language. Now, this certainly wouldn't seem amusing to anyone who hasn't read the book, but, to me it was. The writer did an excellent job with properly portraying the character and their reactions to certain things. Like for instance, Jack Fletchers language teacher. His language teacher was of Spanish decent and he was a soldier, that somehow ended up becoming really close to lord of the place he was staying at. This place being somewhere in Japan -Japan being the setting of this here book. Back to the main point! Jack Fletcher was of British decent. This story was set back in a time where war was everywhere! And who do you think happened to be at war at that time? None other than the Spanish with the British. Now, I found this all amusing because of the relationship between these two. The Spanish man's distain towards the English boy was truly great, and like I mentioned earlier, it was portrayed great as well. A quote I think describes this perfectly is when the Spanish man tells Jack too... "Now shut up English boy and let us get on with the lesson!" I feel like this perfectly relates to our current society, I mean. There's always going to be someone you hate, but! You just sadly have to get along with them. Another slightly interesting thing about this is just, I wonder how hard it must've been for two different races to communicate right when they first made contact with eachother? Back when they had no knowledge of eachothers different languages at all.

Much like the previous point I made, there's something else that also involved language/race that caught my attention. That of course being the obsurd amount Japanese people hating on the protagonist. Now, I know this was accurate to the time, and that back then Japanese men and woman would have despised foreigners, however! I feel like some of the distain towards the character wasn't needed, like him constantly getting bullied by other members of the school he eventually ended up going to. I genuinely think that this point relates perfectly to our current society in a good way. Kind off. I'd like to think that the last couple of generations have been the least racist as of yet, and generally speaking, everyone accepts everyone. Now, don't get me wrong, though. Racism still happens, and it happens a lot. It's just I feel Ike the things happening in Novels and stuff from the past have greatly been fixed in recent years. I personally love the fact that this has happened! Unifying every race and slowly getting to that stage of equality is awesome. So this point relates to our current society, but in a different form than usually.

Title: Walk the Line.
Author: James Mangold.
Text Type: Film.
Date Finished: 1 July.

Walk the Line is a film based around Johnny Cash. The film was directed by James Mangold and it shows you all the troubles Johnny went trough in his life, not all of it was troubles tho, luckily.

Johnny Cash is actually horrible. He slept with a different woman to his wife while still being married to her, he then afterwards Said "it ain't wrong, June" like shut up, you idiot! (Not my choice of words, personally would have made it worse but I wanna pass) I can't understand why people would even consider cheating, no matter what, in my opinion once you've married someone and have children with them, you need to try your best and support them but noooo! Johnny is a big boy and he wants more for himself! More girls! Yay! Oh she's married too? Who cares! Honestly; this happens so much in our society and should just stop; cheating is horrible.

I feel bad for both Vivian and June. Vivian got cheated on by her husband, who she was never even around because he had to chase his dream and not bring her along! But ohhh! He'd bring poor old June along, and then sweeten her up and make them both cheat. Like honestly what did Vivian do to deserve this, throughout the entire film she did her best to help Johnny in his career; she even moved somewhere with him where there was literally no shot of becoming a musician. She looked after the children by herself and was just a wreck, I cannot understand why people cheat Goddammit. That's why when she left Johnny I was Like "Yes, you've done yourself the biggest thing you could have! I'm so proud off you!" Like I actually felt happy for her.

ThTitle: The Messenger.
Author: Markus Zusak
Text Type: Novel.
Date Finished: 1st July.

The Messenger is a book written by Markus Zusak. In the book we see a useless boy that pretty much has nothing. Turn into this heroic man! It's one of those great stories where you see someone doing good but not getting anything in return.

I honestly related alot to the protagonist, we had the same ideas and thoughts about everything throughout out the novel. I especially noticed this when he thought about three things coffee, woman and the bit after he didn't shoot the drunk and let him go. With the coffee it was easy, once every chapter, I think. Woman well, he has a very clear way of describing woman, I guess I'm similar and lastly when he didn't shoot the man he was supposed to. That seen just made me understand how much alike us humans are, I don't think any normal person would have pulled the trigger.

I loved it when Ed helped Sophie, it was my favorite bit. He quite literally did so much for someone without really doing anything! It just shows you that you don't have to cure cancer to be considered a good man, simply give someone nothing and it would be the greatest thing they had ever gotten in their life! Now the point that I'm getting at with all that Is just, wow, us humans need to all sit down and read this book, we need to see that even a worthless piece of trash like ed could make peoples life so much better. Wow, this book was really interesting thus I liked it! I highly recommend it to everyone.

Title: No Name

Author: Ryan O'Shaughnessy

Text: Song

Date: January 17th 2017

This is a song sang by Ryan O'Shaughnessy, the song is about a anonymous girl that he has liked for a long time.

"Every now and then I try to tell you just how I feel
Heavens talk, the rain begins, the sky turns black
Nobody wins
Well, I try to talk but I can't
My soul has turned to steel
This happens every now and then when I try to tell you just how I feel" Ohhh how much I love this song! this quote especially in my opinion is awesome! I think this quote actually manages to describe what it feels like to talk to a crush you have, It relates to everyone! You cant tell me that never in your life have you tried to talk to your crush and tell her how you feel but you cant cause you're just to nervous. I just wont accept that theres anyone like that. If you aren't nervous when talking to your crush at first, that simply means you dont have a crush on them.

"So if you ever love somebody
You gotta' keep them close"  YAY!, another great quote. I agree with this alot! its something i think more people need to see. LIKE the amount of people cheating and stuff like that, I dont understand why people dont just start to like someone that changes into love, since now this is love you just HOLD ONTO YOUR LOVED ONE, and thats it. Okay, people just need to calm down and slowly fall in love with someone, then stay with them. I find the whole process simple but i do also understand that people change and you can fall in love twice, such a weird topic.

Title: “Google's New AI Has Learned to Become "Highly Aggressive" in Stressful Situations”

Author: BEC CREW

Text Type: Article

Date: 13 FEB 2017

This article is a quick look into what Google's new DeepMind AI system can mean for the future of the human race. It brings up a few things that google has released about it and analyzes it telling us what's going on.

I think this article focuses to much on it being bad instead of thinking why its bad. “They found that things went smoothly so long as there were enough apples to go around, but as soon as the apples began to dwindle, the two agents turned aggressive, using laser beams to knock each other out of the game to steal all the apples." This quote from the BEC CREW in my opinion is wrong. They have not taken into consideration that the game the made the ai system play was literally about fighting for food, and what have humans been doing for centuries? War for land, food, and anything really valuable. So if this ai system has been programmed with having human intelligence, then obviously it's logical reasoning would be to wage war for the food. I think the quote should have been more along the lines of “Things went smoothly as long as there was enough resources, but once the “food” was up they adapted to the change and did what humans know best, make war and pillage everything.” Something along those lines, what I wrote wasn't really good but it's okay as long as I get the point across that the ai is just doing what humans want it to do. I think this is something people need to look into more in depth, and if they want to make a proper Ai thats got the perfect intelligence, don't base it off humans, instead use ants.

Something I agree on! Yes, no matter how much we try to influence the ai, no matter how complex they get, they will never actually care about humans objectives. “It's still early days for DeepMind, and the team at Google has yet to publish their study in a peer-reviewed paper, but the initial results show that, just because we build them, it doesn't mean robots and AI systems will automatically have our interests at heart.” An Artificial intelligence system, does what it is programmed to do. It can be good or bad, like if you program a AI to shoot someone, it will shoot someone without remorse or guilt. If you program it to make a cake, it will. But you can't program an Ai to actually care about someone or something. It's not possible. I honestly think that working on Ai systems are just useless, why would you create something that could potentially kill everyone? Not only that this would require so much resources oh and another thing, say we manage to make them and they like take over a factory jobs. What about the people who were working there from the start that needed that money? Anyway like I said I don't like this, and think it will cause more issues than it's worth.

What we be doing.

We asked Mr. Sutton about some things relating to the current war in Syria. We asked to get permission for presenting everything. Mr. Sutton could not have accepted and we were quite scared and worried but we managed and at the end did good.

We were tasked with finishing of the last few things in our action plan, This was helped by the fact that we went real slow and did good. It also didnt help tho because of the amount we could go slow we started falling behind everyone else who were working towards finishing it off.

We started thinking about different ideas to try and make our awareness video actually raise awareness; after all our original idea of playing airsoft and filming it didn’t sound good enough, and might have been seen as childish games. We decided to get actual war clips and add them too our presentation instead of anything else. We asked around to try and see what our general restriction of the war contents we could show. We came to the conclusion that we might as well go big and show them what war means. This would also benefit the children so they know what war is from a young video.

We started to get clips and prepared the video. Nothing much is happening as we wait for the presentation.

We typed up everything that you have read now, We forgot to write them down as we went along so we did it today.
